The Ford Ranger is a name utilized on two distinct pick up trucks by the Ford Motor Company. They include a Ford designed compact pickup, as well as a Mazda designed compact pick up. For now, we will focus on the former model, which is sold in the United States of America, Canada, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.
The Ford Ranger is known as Ford’s main compact pickup truck in the United States of America and Canada. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the Ford Ranger was an option on the Ford F Series model.
Then the Ford Ranger went on to replace the Ford Courier, which was an Americanized version of the Mazda B Series model. At this time, the market segment was largely dominated by Datsun and Toyota. The Ford Ranger would go on to become the best selling compact pick up truck in the United States of America between the years of 1987 and 2004.
Currently, the Ford Ranger is manufactured in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the Ford Twin Cities Assembly Plant. That factory is scheduled to close in the year 2008. The Ford Ranger was also manufactured at one point at a factory in Edison, New Jersey; that plant closed its doors in the year 2004.
