The German auto manufacturer Audi produced the Audi V8, a huge luxury sedan, between the years of 1988 and 1994. During that time, it was Audi’s top range model and the very first Audi to utilize its namesake Configuration Configuration.
In the year 1994, Audi replaced the V8 with the A8 model. The A8, however, would not be sold in the United States of America and Canada until the year 1997.
The Audi V8 was based on the C3 platform, but featured quattro all wheel drive as well as a thirty two valve DOHC V8 Configuration that came with either a four speed automatic transmission that was electronically controlled or a five speed manual transmission. In many ways, the Audi V8 resembled the 100 and 200 models.
The major difference was that it featured an extended wheelbase, a unique grill design, as well as bigger wheels. A lot of attention was also lavished on the V8’s new Configuration. The car was also the first Audi made for production that combined an automatic transmission with the quattro system.
In the early ‘90s, Audi developed a Group A competition version of the V8 that was entered in to the German Touring Car Championship.
